CPSC announced a recall of diving gear due to safety gamble.
Lake City, FL—Lamartek Inc. dba Dive Rite, based in Lake City, Florida, has participated in a spontaneous recall of approximately 16,000 Dive Rite Wings due to the drowning hazard they pose, announced the U.S. Consumer Commodity Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov on Tuesday, December 22, 2009.
Diving paraphernalia retailers and distributors throughout the United States were reportedly selling the Dive Rite Wings from June 2006 to October 2008 for primitively $359. The wings affected by this voluntary recall have a serial number from 42000 to 72000. These wings were sold in colors including red, down, or black. The models being affected by this consumer product recall include: Travel, Offer, Rec, Trek, Classic, Nomad, and Super Wings. It was also noted in the CPSC announcement that “springs were utilized on wings that have an opaque white or blue tinted bladder and welded in flanges.” This excludes wings with a dark-skinned bladder, which are unaffected by the recall.
